delicious MUG desserts

**WARNING** these desserts are extremely delicious and incredibly easy to make.  if you continue reading this blog post, you assume all risk of enjoying a rich, savory, warm dessert whenever you have 5 minutes to spare. side effects may include sugar overload! please proceed with caution…

gooey CHOCOLATE cake

what you’ll need:

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • 2-3 tbsp granulated sugar (depending on how sweet you like it)
  • ¼ cup + 1 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • optional: 1 tbsp hazelnut chocolate spread, chocolate frosting, cookie butter, or other spread of choice

how to make it:

  • in a small bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt
  • in a medium bowl, whisk together sugar, milk and oil
  • mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients
  • pour batter into a microwave safe mug
  • add a dollop of spread in the middle of the mug
  • place mug in the microwave on top of a paper towel (in case your cake overflows!)
  • microwave for 70 seconds
  • ENJOY!

VANILLA birthday cake

what you’ll need:

  • ¼ cup + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup + 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • rainbow sprinkles
  • optional: frosting of choice

how to make it:

  • in a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt
  • in a medium bowl, whisk together sugar, milk, vanilla and butter
  • mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients
  • mix in a spoonful or two of sprinkles
  • pour batter into a microwave safe mug
  • place mug in the microwave on top of a paper towel (in case your cake overflows!)
  • microwave for 130 seconds
  • add a layer of frosting, extra sprinkles, and ENJOY!

classic CHOCOLATE CHIP cookie

what you’ll need:

  • 1 tbsp melted butter or coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp chocolate chips (regular size or mini)

how to make it:

  • mix butter, egg yolk, sugars and salt in a mug
  • gradually add in flour and mix well
  • add in chocolate chips
  • microwave for 45 seconds. if not cooked, continue microwaving in 20 second increments
  • ENJOY!

mouth-watering PEANUT BUTTER cookie

*BONUS* this cookie is gluten free

what you’ll need:

  • 3 tbsp creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp + 1 tsp white granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg

how to make it:

  • mix all ingredients in a mug
  • microwave for 1 minute
  • ENJOY!

decadent S’MORES cake

*BONUS* makes 2 servings

what you’ll need:

  • 3 tbsp graham cracker crumbs
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup + 3 tbsp milk chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 5 tbsp self-rising flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 10 to 12 mini marshmallows

optional toppings:

  • mini marshmallows
  • milk chocolate chips
  • graham cracker crumbs

how to make it:

  • add ½ tbsp butter to two separate mugs and microwave for 5-10 seconds until butter is just melted
  • divide graham cracker crumbs between mugs and stir together with butter
  • in a microwave safe measuring cup, microwave remaining 2 tbsp butter and chocolate chips for 20-25 seconds until just melted
  • stir in sugar and let cool
  • beat in egg yolk
  • stir in milk and vanilla extract
  • add flour, cocoa, salt and remaining chocolate chips and stir until batter is smooth
  • add a tbsp of batter to each mug
  • add a layer of 5-6 marshmallows to each mug
  • split the rest of the batter evenly among each mug
  • microwave each mug individually for about 1 minute. if not done, microwave in 10 second intervals until dough springs back from touch
  • add topping and microwave for a couple more seconds to soften marshmallows
  • ENJOY!
