vacant lot becomes new urban park in san diego

quartyard is the name of a brand new urban park in san diego, with a grand opening this upcoming saturday, march 7th.

the park will include a craft beer garden, food trucks, s&m: sausage and meat (the new concept from slater’s 50/50), meshuggah shack coffee shop, music and events, and a dog park for its visitors.

auchetti’s urban planning group aims to develop underused or vacant lots into outdoor gathering places for local communities, and the 30,000 square foot lot on market street is their first project.

“San Diego is traditionally somewhat conservative so it’s good to start pushing it out of the box a bit and get creative with architectural possibilities,” says Auchetti.
