local artist spotlight: MICHAEL SUMMERS

one of the benefits of being located in sunny san diego is that there is no shortage of beautiful street art to admire.  one well known mural is located in carlsbad village on the wall of the witchcreek winery.  “catnap,” painted by artist MICHAEL SUMMERS in 2013, portrays two tigers and a cub caught in a beautiful, vibrant rainfall.  this painting is part of a series that SUMMERS calls “right as rain.” SUMMERS gathers much of his inspiration by observing animals at the san diego zoo.  his paintings capture the unique personality of each animal and the bond between animal families.

SUMMERS’ traditional art media is canvas painting, which he creates in his oceanside studio.  his canvas artwork will be featured in art shows around san diego, laguna and las vegas this summer! if you want to learn more about the artist and where you can find his paintings, visit his website here.
